TIPS FOR RACE FANS

Planning to attend the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 and hoping to meet your favorite NASCAR driver? Here are some straightforward tips to boost your chances of getting an autograph or photo.

Arrive early
Driver appearances follow tight schedules packed with practice, media, and fan events. Showing up right when the gates open gives you the best shot at getting into fan activities like autograph sessions, Q&As, and meet-and-greets – often held in the Fan Zone at Dover Motor Speedway.

Check the weekend schedule.
Keep an eye on the official event schedule from NASCAR or Dover Motor Speedway. That’s where autograph sessions, stage interviews, and special fan events will be listed. Drivers sometimes pop up for last-minute appearances, too, so follow teams and the track on social media for updates.

Watch for sponsor and team events.
Teams and sponsors regularly organize fan-friendly appearances outside the official schedule. These can include driver Q&As, stage shows, or booth signings. Some are open to everyone; others may be tied to hospitality packages or giveaways.

Know where to wait
While pit and garage access is restricted, drivers often walk through public areas like the Fan Zone or from the garage to pit road. Hang out in those transition spots. Sometimes you’ll get a quick wave, photo, or even a signature if the timing is right.

Bring something to sign
If you're chasing autographs, be prepared. Hats, hero cards, die-cast cars, or shirts are all easy for drivers to sign quickly. Having your own item ready helps keep things moving and makes the moment more personal.

Be respectful
Drivers are on a tight schedule, especially on race day. If you get a moment with one, keep it quick and polite. Don’t crowd or block their way. Staying patient and courteous, especially in long lines, goes a long way.

How to avoid the biggest crowds
At a NASCAR event, if you're thinking about grabbing food, using the restroom, or moving to a better spot, odds are a lot of others are too. Try to move just before or after the busiest moments to skip the longest lines and stay more comfortable.

Picking the best spot to watch from
Each grandstand at Dover offers a different view – whether you want to be near pit road or prefer a panoramic photo angle from up high. Use our seating guide to help decide in advance. Once you’ve picked your spot, plan to stay put as much as possible – moving around the venue during peak times can be slow and crowded. Check our overview here.
