TRAVELING BY MASS TRANSPORT

While Dover Motor Speedway isn't directly served by major train lines or intercity transit hubs, getting there by public transportation is possible with some planning. The most common approach is to travel to the city of Dover, Delaware, from nearby major cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., or New York City, and then use local bus routes or rideshare services.

From major cities to Dover, Delaware, by bus or train

From Philadelphia (~1.5–2.5 hrs total)

  • Step 1: Take a SEPTA or Amtrak train to Wilmington, DE.
  • Step 2: At Wilmington, transfer to a Greyhound or DART First State bus (Route 301) to Dover Transit Center.

From Baltimore (~2.5–3.5 hrs)

  • Step 1: Take an Amtrak train to Wilmington, DE.
  • Step 2: From Wilmington, use Greyhound or DART Route 301 to reach Dover.

From Washington D.C. (~3.5–4.5 hrs)

  • Option A: Take Amtrak to Wilmington, then as above.
  • Option B: Use Greyhound or OurBus (if available) to Dover directly.

From New York City (~4–5 hrs)

  • Step 1: Take an Amtrak train or Greyhound/OurBus to Wilmington.
  • Step 2: Then switch to Route 301 or Greyhound to Dover.

Uber and Lyft

Rideshare services work fairly well for getting to the race. The problem is after the race ends. Demand spikes, drivers are limited, and the traffic around the track makes pickup spots chaotic. Prices go up, and wait times can be long. If you're using Uber or Lyft to get back, be ready to walk a bit away from the venue to improve your chances.
